There’s a sign in our department that I’ve passed many times and I’ve never paid attention to it until the other day while waiting on a patient. I started to read the sign and at the bottom, this question was posed…who is the center of your universe?
The question brought me immediately to my answer to that question. Now it can be easy to think of family and other things as being the center but for me, Jesus is the center. Without Him, the universe wouldn’t be upheld. These scriptures make it clear:
Hebrews 1:1-3, He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Psalm 83:18
That they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.
1 Corinthians 8:6
Yet for us, there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
Although I love my family dearly when I look across the landscape of my life it’s only Jesus that has upheld me. Whenever I thought my universe was crashing every time He has let me know that His hands are wrapped around me to give me support.
