When Jesus Comes to Your House It’s A New Beginning

The Bible is filled with wonderfully encouraging stories about men and women who had the opportunity to experience a new beginning that was the result of a Jesus encounter. And guess what, they were ordinary, everyday people like you and me. They failed, they slipped, they sinned, they did and said the wrong things, but despite all that, an encounter with the Lord brought them into a new beginning!

There is a story in the book of Luke of a man named Zacchaeus. In these 10 verses, we discover a lot about this man who we never hear about again. We discover Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector, he was very rich, he was short in stature and he wanted to see Jesus. The Bible doesn’t say WHY Zacchaeus wanted to get to Jesus, it just says he wanted to see WHO Jesus was. Perhaps Zacchaeus had heard about Jesus’ teachings and wanted to see just who He was. Perhaps he had heard about the healings and the miracles and wanted to see just WHO is this Jesus. I don’t know, I just know the bible says He sought to see WHO Jesus was, but he could not see because he was short in stature.

Beloved no matter what obstacles are in our way, no matter if it seems that we have many strikes against us, we cannot let ANYTHING get in our way to keep us from Jesus. We can’t allow anything or anyone to keep us from seeing WHO HE is, from declaring and pressing for our breakthrough and our new beginning. We’ve got to take a lesson from the Zaccheaus playbook and be willing to get up above our challenges and our obstacles to get to our victory. How many times have we let excuses get in the way of our success, how many times have we let someone else keep us from getting to our goal? We’ve got to determine and declare out of our mouths so that our mind and our own will hears that this is the day of our turnaround, and this will be the day of our new beginning!

Zacchaeus decided quickly the best place for him is up, to get up higher, so he runs ahead of the crowd and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus because Jesus was going to come that way. Sometimes to get to our new beginning we’ve got to go higher. Higher in our mind, higher in our thoughts, higher in our faith, higher in our hope, we’ve got to go higher to get to the place where we can SEE, HEAR, TOUCH, ENCOUNTER JESUS!! We’ve got to get up higher in our relationship with our God so that we can know His voice, know His character, and surrender to His will. When we go up higher above our problems, we make the Lord larger than our situation; we magnify HIM instead of our challenges.

When we get UP high above our enemy we say the Lord is greater, bigger, stronger, and mightier than the trials we go through. When we get up high above the voices of the world we enter into a place where we can encounter the power, the perfection, the plan of God for our lives and we walk right into our new beginning! God said in Isaiah 55 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.” Changing his location put Zacchaeus in a position to experience a Jesus encounter that he never expected. Zacchaeus climbed up high into that tree not knowing WHAT to expect, but he did know that he desired to find out WHO JESUS was.

Beloved all Jesus needs from us for our new beginning is a desire to find out WHO He is. The Bible says as Jesus passed by Jesus looked up and saw him and said Zacchaeus, hurry up and come down, for today I must stay at your house. So he made haste and came down and received Him joyfully. Oh my goodness, this is so exciting! Jesus came to that tree, looked up, and called HIS NAME!! He didn’t say hey tax collector, come down, he didn’t say rich guy what you doing up in that tree, come down. He didn’t say hey little short man, come down here. No, Jesus, the Living Word, the breath of Life, Jesus, the Word made flesh, called Zacchaeus by name and said come down here quickly, because today I MUST STAY at YOUR HOUSE!! Aren’t you glad that Jesus knows your name?

Isaiah 43:1 says

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

The Lord of Hosts knows your name and if we can get high, up above the noise and the distractions of all that is happening in the world, we will hear Him call our name. If we can get up high like Zaccheus in that tree and just desire to get to know who Jesus is, I believe we will hear Jesus call our name and like Zacchaeus, we will hear Jesus say, come on down, come here quickly, because TODAY, I MUST stay at your house!!

That’s a new beginning, that’s a day of deliverance, that’s a moment of breakthrough to know that Jesus WANTS to, and desires to come to our house. He wants to come and sit with us, abide with us, rescue us, give us peace and hope, and again that declaration is in our mouth, TODAY, say TODAY, Jesus has come to STAY at my house.

Zacchaeus didn’t care about the taunts and the jeers and the haters and the people calling him a sinner, Jesus had just called his name and said He was coming to his house!! Haters gonna hate but don’t get distracted, Jesus is bringing your new beginning! There is power in a new beginning, power in a new revelation, and hope in knowing that Jesus not only wants to come and visit, but He also wants to STAY. He wants to make your home His place of tabernacle. He wants to STAY at your house, and where He is there is victory. Where Jesus is there is deliverance, where Jesus is there is overcoming, where Jesus is there is a way of escape. You see Zacchaeus didn’t make excuses about why Jesus shouldn’t come to his house, the Bible says he made HASTE and came down and received Jesus joyfully. Beloved today is the day of a new beginning to receive Jesus with joy.

Every day is a day of a new beginning and every day is a day of hanging out with Jesus because He wants to be with you!! You see I say again, WE must begin to speak life out of our own mouths and if we understand just how much Jesus wants to stay at our house we will declare every day, Lord YOU dwell in this house, this mind, this heart, and this mouth. Jesus wants to stay because He knows we need Him daily, we need His presence every day, we need Him to stay in our house and be Lord, so today, it’s a new beginning. Whatever we haven’t done in the past, it is past, today is my new beginning. Whoever failed in the past, it is past, and it’s your new beginning. Whatever I messed up in the past, I didn’t pray as I should, I didn’t study or read as I should have, I didn’t trust the Lord like I knew I should, let it go! You can’t walk into the new beginning the Lord has for you holding on to the baggage the guilt, the restraints of the past, TODAY, hear the voice of Jesus calling YOUR name and saying, TODAY I MUST STAY AT YOUR HOUSE!!

There is power in a new beginning and it starts in your heart and is released in your mouth. I want to encourage you today to speak that life and begin to walk in victory and authority, because Jesus the Christ, the hope of Glory, has come today to stay at your house and when He comes, salvation comes, freedom comes and purpose is revealed. Hear this word from God speaking a Word of a new beginning through the prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel and us today.

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth.

Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Beloved, your Father can take the impossible and make it possible, the crooked He makes straight and the dry places He fills with water. I believe Jesus is calling our names today to do a new thing, an unbelievable and unimaginable thing in and through His people because the world needs to see the supernatural God today like never before.

Every day is a new beginning and I encourage you to embrace today, and with haste permit Jesus to stay in your house. And if you can trust the Lord with all that you have, this can be the day of your new beginning as well. There is power in an encounter with the King of Kings and in Him lies the power of your new beginning.

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

If there ever was a time when we needed the Lord, we should do need Him now.

Now is not the time to debate whether we should be physically in the church building or not. Now is not the time to determine who is more righteous by whether their service is online or on the phone. Continue reading…

IS ANYONE HOLDING ON TO HOPE?

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future –Jeremiah 29:11

Hope – It’s a small 4 letter word that carries such great weight and significance.  But because of all that is going on around us, sometimes we forget to look for it, and we forget we can bring hope into our world.   Continue reading…
