In reply to <a href="https://www.rhoniesays.com/inspiration/faiththe-hard-way/#comment-413">Phyllis Smith</a>.

And amen Phyllis. You are reminding me of something else I've concluded about one's spiritual walk . . . that God sent Jesus as the great equalizer for all of us that lack the strength and discipline to consistently carry out "the work." It was to tell us, "if you try (that is have faith), I've got your back...you are saved...just believe." For Old Testament believers it was all about following the rules and how well you "do." As you know, the New Testament, is about "faith; that it is sufficient for God's grace" and "as you develop your relationship with me (God), I will give you the strength and desire to do good things (works)."

You see I, like many others--for whatever reason--am not disciplined about a lot of things...including my spiritual walk. For goodness sake I struggle just to keep my desk clean and neat. For others, it seems to come natural. But they are that way in all aspects of their life...including being a Christian (or an atheist). They have in them a natural discipline that came by way of nature and nurture.

So, LITERALLY, thank God, He has not demanded that I do what I seem to be incapable of doing (consistently). Rather He says, "Just believe, have faith, and I will take care of the rest.

Thank you for your comments and for making me think too! :)
